chlorofluorocarbons → klorofluorougljici
Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) are manmade chemicals containing chlorine, fluorine, and carbon. CFCs are used for industrial purposes and in the home for refrigeration, air conditioning, aerosols and as a raw material in polystyrene production.
coal gas → ugljeni plin
Coal gas is a gas produced by the destructive distillation of coal, and contains approximately 50 % hydrogen, 35 % methane and 8 % carbon monoxide. The by-products of the production of coal gas are coal tar and coke.
colligative properties → koligativna svojstva
Colligative properties are properties which affect a solvent based on the number of molecules of solute present such as melting point, boiling point and osmotic pressure.
cell potential → potencijal članka
Cell potential (E) is difference between anode and cathode potential. If the cell potential is positive, then the reaction is spontaneous.
combustion → gorenje
Combustion is a phenomenon when a substance is combined with oxygen in the presence of a flame accompanied by the production of heat and light. Combustion requires a supply of both fuel and oxygen (air) and can take place in the open atmosphere such as an open fire, or in a closed system, such as a car engine.
complete ionic equation → potpuna ionska jednadžba
Complete ionic equation is a balanced equation that describes a reaction occurring in a solution, in which all strong electrolytes are written as dissociated ions.
conjugated acid → konjugirana kiselina
Conjugated acid is a particle that develops after a base receives a proton.
conjugated bond → konjugirana veza
Conjugated bonds describe the alternating pattern of double and single bonds, or triple bonds and single bonds, in a molecule. In such molecules, there is some delocalisation of electrons into the pi orbitals of the carbon atoms linked by the single bond.
contaminant → kontaminat
Contaminants are any physical, chemical, biological, or radiological substance or matter in water that may be harmful to human health or which degrade the palatability of water.
centrifugation → centrifugiranje
Centrifugation is sedimentation of particles under the influence of the centrifugal force and it is used for separation of superfine suspensions. At centrifuging forces up to 10 000 times greater than gravity force are used, and at ultracentrifuge up to 600 000 times as great.
