dissolved substance → otopljena tvar
Dissolved substance is a solid, liquid or gas matter dissolved in a solvent. Depending upon the particle size of dissolved substance, solutions differ in properties and can be divided into real solutions (diameter of particles is smaller than 1 nm), colloid solutions (diameter of particles is from 1 nm to 200 nm) and suspensions (diameter of particles is greater than 200 nm).
elementary substance → elementarna tvar
Elementary substance is a simple and pure substance which can not be, by chemistry methods, decomposed further into simpler substances.
Faraday cage → Faradayev kavez
Faraday cage is a container giving protection from electrical fields: an assembly of conducting material, for example, metal mesh or grid, placed around electrical equipment to protect it from external electrical fields. Faraday cages are named after the English scientist Michael Faraday (1791-1867).
heat of sublimation → toplina sublimacije
Heat of sublimation or enthalpy of sublimation is the energy required to convert one mole of a substance from the solid to the gas state (sublimation) without the appearance of the liquid state.
impure substance → nečista tvar
Impure substance is every substance that contains traces of other elements or compounds in itself.
insoluble substance → netopljiva tvar
Insoluble substance is a substance that does not dissolve in a solvent to give a reasonable concentration (e.g. chalk is insoluble in water).
mutagenic substance → mutagena tvar
Mutagenic substances are substances that cause mutation, a change in inheritable properties of an organism.
natural caoutchouc → prirodni kaučuk
Natural caoutchouc is an addition polymer of isoprene. It is obtained from tropical plant of rubber-tree by coagulation of rubber-tree-milk.
heat capacity → toplinski kapacitet
Heat capacity is defined in general as dQ/dT, where dQ is the amount of heat that must be added to a system to increase its temperature by a small amount dT. The heat capacity at a constant pressure is Cp = (∂H/∂T)p; that at a constant volume is CV = (∂E/∂T)V, where H is enthalpy, E is internal energy, p is pressure, V is volume, and T is temperature. An upper case C normally indicates the molar heat capacity, while a lower case c is used for the specific (per unit mass) heat capacity.
plastic sulphur → plastični sumpor
Plastic sulphur is the shape of sulphur which emerges when hot, liquid sulphur pours out in the water. It can be stretched in long fibres is unstable unstable. It easily solidifies.
