Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is a thermoplastic polyolefin with a density of 0.910-0.940 g cm-3. It is a recyclable plastic used predominantly in film applications due to its toughness, flexibility and relative transparency. LDPE has a low melting point, making it popular for use in applications where heat sealing is necessary. Typically, LDPE is used to manufacture flexible films such as those used for plastic retail bags and garment dry cleaning and grocery bags.
Propagation is the step in a polymerization mechanism, where new monomer molecules are added to the growing polymer chain in the free radical process.
Proteins are natural organic compounds of animal or herbal origin, essential in diet. They are natural polymers developed from a crowd of interconnecting monomers of amino acids, with relative molecular masses amounting up to a few million.
Proteolysis is hydrolytic decomposition of proteins with enzymes, for example trypsin.
Provitamins are substances in food from which certain vitamins are created in the organism, for example the carotene is the provitamin of vitamin A.
Psychoactive drugs are natural (mescaline) or synthetic substances (LSD) which take effect on central nervous system causing euphoria, and by lengthened use they also cause addiction, gradually destroying the nervous system.
Purification is the physical or chemical process of removing contaminants from a compound. The physical processes may include sublimation, distillation, filtration, crystallisation, or extraction. The chemical processes may involve formation of a derivative, purification of the derivative and recovery of the original material in a pure form of the derivative.
