Euler number (Eu) is a dimensionless quantity used in fluid mechanics, defined by
where p is pressure, ρ is density, and v is velocity.
Nitro colours are artificial organic colours that contain nitro-group. They are used for colouring skin, wool and silk.
Nitroso compounds are compounds that contain the nitroso-group (.NO).
Nitrosoamines are carcinogenic compounds that contain nitroso and amino-group in a single molecule.
Nominal is used to describe a process where 100 % accuracy is not guaranteed. For example, sand filtres are usually sold to filtre to a nominal 10 μm, which means that they will filtre most particles of 10 μm and larger, but not all. A filtre which is guaranteed to filtre all particles of 10 μm would be termed absolute rather than nominal.
Non-Newtonian fluid is a fluid whose viscosity changes when the gradient in flow speed changes. Colloidal suspensions and polymer solutions like ketchup and starch/water paste are non-Newtonian fluids.
Nonelectrolytes are substances which in solutions do not dissociate into ions and they do not conduct electric current.
