photomultiplier → fotomultiplikator
Photomultiplier (photomultiplier tube or PMT) is a very versatile and sensitive detector of radiant energy in the ultraviolet, visible, and near infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. A typical photomultiplier tube consists of a photoemissive cathode (photocathode) followed by focusing electrodes, an electron multiplier (dynode) and an electron collector (anode) in a vacuum tube.

Plasma is a highly ionised gas in which the charge of the electrons is balanced by the charge of the positive ions, so that the system as a whole is electrically neutral. Plasmas are created by exposing gases at low pressure to an electric or electromagnetic field. In semiconductor processing, plasmas are used for etching and thin film deposition (the excited state of the gas makes it very reactive). In everyday life plasmas are used to give light in fluorescent light bulbs, neon lamps, and blue insect traps.

For a non-absorbing medium, refractive index (n) is the ratio of the velocity of electromagnetic radiation (light) in vacuum to the phase velocity of radiation of a specified frequency in the medium.
ultraviolet light → ultraljubičasto svjetlo
Ultraviolet light (UV light or UV radiation) is an electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength longer than that of x-rays, but shorter than that of visible light. Ultraviolet light can break some chemical bonds and cause cell damage.
visible radiation → vidljivo zračenje
Human eye can only see electromagnetic radiation of wavelengths form 400 nm to 760 nm. This narrow part of electromagnetic spectrum is called visible radiation. Visible (white) light is a mixture of light of all kind of colours, it can be separated, with the help of a glass prism, into its component colours - visible light spectrum, and each colour corresponds to a certain area of wavelengths:

Wavelength is the distance between two neighbouring peaks of the electromagnetic wave.
